EMD & HOL for Sunday April 25, 2010
April 25th, 2010SPECIAL EMERALD DOWNS SELECTIONS FOR CHRIS AND KACI 4-25-2010
2nd Race) VICTORIA CROSS (#1) shows a fast :59 flat workout for her debut. She hails from the red-hot Vann Belvoir barn and will be ridden by “Booger†Mitchell, who is one of the leading riders at Emerald Downs.
3rd race) REWRITTEN (#3) is owned by Ron Crockett, the man who owns Emerald Downs. (Tell him I said hello if you see him. He usually has a big stogie in his mouth.) She ran faster than par for this level when she was second in her comeback on April 11. She’ll be the heavy favorite so there won’t be much money to be made unless you put her in an exacta or trifecta or single her in a Pick 3.
4th Race) PINKY BUTTERFLY (#1) shows the “Golden Bracket†Josh was famous for. (She led for most of her comeback race but tired in the stretch.) That race should have tightened her up a bit and there isn’t much speed to go with her.
5th Race) MUSICAL TRICK (#2) is the only horse in the race who has competed recently. He ran third at this level on April 11 and need only repeat that race to win today.
7th Race) MISS FAST DANCER (#3) has won more races than any other entrant in this field. She is also the only one with a recent race under her belt and it was a very good one. She will be tough to beat.
8th Race) KENTUCKY OUTING (#3) has won her last three starts so you don’t need to be a genius to pick her. She was claimed by sharp trainer Frank Lucarelli last time out at Golden Gate. Her biggest challenge could come from SHAMEONYA (#4), who won her only start and might have a touch of class. She has been working well for her return to racing and should be a factor.
AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
1st Race) The clockers like FOLLOW MY TAIL (#3) and SPARK CITY (#4).
6th Race) HONEY BUNCH (#3) has been training exceptionally well since her last race for excellent trainer Dave Hofmans. She is a good price too. (8-1 on the a.m. line.)
9th Race) NATIONAL HOLIDAY (#9), who loves Hollywood Park, is a longshot special. He could give trainer Marty Jones the late double as COMPARI (#2 in the 8th Race) hardly ever loses.
